  • Poll: I want a new PC!

Well I'm getting itchy to put together a new system. The problem I'm having now is that I'm getting tried of waiting for the new Palomino chip to come out from AMD. I'm looking at getting either a Abit KG-7 or an Asus A7V266 as my motherboard, though the Abit board is little bit more appeling since I want to do RAID with this PC...just to be cool! . So my poll is what you see above and help me decide what to do!

PS wanted to try out this poll thing for awhile now

    I feel your pain

I was hoping to get a Dual-Athlon setup so I could stop having to upgrade for a while

but the boards only became available recently and are still pricey.....

Get the T-Bird, Greebe can help ya tune it nice and you'll probably be happy for a while

I´m starting to think in upgrading the cpu too, despite I´m preety satisfied with my tb900@1000.

So it has to be a cheap upgrade. My plan is wait for a month for AMD to release its Palomino and see how birdy´s prices will drop - and they will for sure.

I may be going Thunderbird, because with a A7V133 the Palomino doesn´t perform that better than TB. Palomino really shines with DDR, but that´s a diferent story.

So my bet is to wait a little longer to see how things will be. And don´t forget that Palomino full compatibility (namely SSE suport and on die thermal diode) on most motherboards (even DDR) is still a big "maybe".

Hmm I have my ancient P3-750 that used to be o/c to 825. Too bad it couldn't take it anymore and I had to take it back to 750 I'm still waiting for the dual Athlons

bah, I'll stick with my 466 Celeron Which has been a jackass and wouldn't work when I overclocked

I'm gonna wait for the next gen of chips before upgrading: upgrade to newest gen if I have money, upgrade to gen with good sized price drops if I don't have money.
