  • utility to decrease noise/spin/seek times on cd-rom

this utility slows down your cd-rom ... because of this, it also slows down seek time, spin up/down time.. and quiets down cd-rom.. apparently it increases speed for browsing and accessing small files, autorun comes up faster too... i guess the only downside is it slows down quite a bit for transferring a lot of data.. eg installing a game

i found on linux if i used a speed of 15x or less, the cdrom drive doesn't make any noise at all, total silence... on windows, noise is significantly decreased...

worked great on my IDE drive, dunno how things are w/scsi
