  • Which Radeon to choose?

Options above. Also please note that I like very good 2d (though I doubt there are any differences among those cards), silent operation (how noisy is the fan on 9500?) and I just want to be able to play some new games in the year or two to come. And price is a major factor.
Please vote and share you comments.

edit: and there's also 9500 with 3.0ns memory for 2€ more - worth it? (I forgot to add this one, so lets say it's inlcuded in first choice)

The ATI 9500 is faster then the 9600

The ATI built cards have the best image quality.

If you really are interested in games, get a PRO version of the card. If not, don't worry about it.

PRO version of 9500 isn't available here now, PRO version of 9600 is too expensive. The only viable choices for me are above.

Then just get the non-pro version.

I doubt you would be too depressed with it. If you are not too fussy in terms of framerate and resolution though, it should last a couple of years at least.

I am using only a Geforce 4 ti4200 and I think it is great, even for playing new games.

Yes, I wasn't too sure if it was them that did the BBA cards or not, so I swayed to the side of caution

I believe that the Sapphire Radeon 9600 is passive cooled. Sapphire has a couple of passive cooled Radeon's, you can probably find a list on the sapphire website.
              Main: Dual Xeon LV2.4Ghz@3.1Ghz | 3X21" | NVidia 6800 | 2Gb DDR | SCSI
              Second: Dual PIII 1GHz | 21" Monitor | G200MMS + Quadro 2 Pro | 512MB ECC SDRAM | SCSI
              Third: Apple G4 450Mhz | 21" Monitor | Radeon 8500 | 1,5Gb SDRAM | SCSI

KeiFront - that is exactly the point I was making - is the fan of 9500 noisy enough so it pays me off to buy passive cooled 9600?

Get one of the two 9600's, you can always overclock it to Pro speeds yourself if you really want that. The 256mb version won't be visibly faster then the 128mb version (if it's any faster at all).
