With your Proc you'll probably have to run Doom 3 at 800 x 600 if you're going to meduim to high quality settings.

Doom 3 demands a lot even with an X800 XT PE and P4 3.4gig.

as long as that "Intel 2.4" isnt a celeron, you can do 1024 medium or high, or even 1152 medium or high fine
I run at 1152 high quality on my rig, and its plenty playable.

With my setup, there isn't that much of a difference in CS with 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768. Adjusting model detail and stuff doesn't help much either. I can't remember if AA did.

The FPS doesn't vary much. Weird.

I'll give it a shot. But I'm using netgraph 3, so I can see the FPS generally run in the mid-30s to mid-50s. Unless I look at a wall or something, then I'm at 130+

The only time it ever seems choppy is when the bomb goes off.

All that while running CS on a 9800 Pro ? I play CS on Titan (see sig) from time to time (not CS:S) and I am normally in the 100's, and dip to the 50's when the C4 goes off.

Yeah, I know something is up, but not sure what. RAM, CPU, I'm not sure how to diagnose the issue.

Part of why I'm saving for x86-64.

Are you playing it in OPENGL or DirectX ? I tried it in OpenGL once and the FPS were way lower than in DirectX. So I stuck with DirectX.

A quick update, instead of getting a 9800XT, I bought the X700 Pro with 256MB GDDR ram
The 9800 XT's are hard to get apperantly

                      Regards,
