Hello,
I'm trying to install Microsoft Fax services on my Windows XP. The procedure should be: go in control panel, add/remove software, add/remove windows components, and just select it there.
Strangely enough, I get errormessages on all files (saying the files can't be copied), but they are copied . So I just chose skip file (same problem with the next file, but it is copied). After completion of the installation however, no fax software is added to the start menu (the program group is added in communications, but it is empty), nor is there a fax printer.
If I manually start the fax client (from windows\system32), it says the fax service isn't running.
I have tried by first uninstalling SP2 (bad idea ), but to no avail.
I suspect it should be possible to add the fax service manually, seeing how all required files are present, but how do I do this? Is there a way of getting this fax functionality withot doing it manually?
Thanks!
Jörg
