Hey all...
I am looking to "cheaply" replace a fileserver that I believe is getting long in the tooth for $500-$600 USD.
The file server specs are listed below:
I would like to keep the PC as a linux test bed/hot spare.
I need a decent case to give the fileserver a new home. I have seen one on Newegg that looks like it might fit the bill;
My question is what should I be using for the CPU/MB ? The only requirements that I am looking for is that the MB can handle all the drives natively, ie all 4 can be on PATA, and has gbit enet that is also native and not running off the PCI bus. I guess that I can live with onboard video, since the fileserver is currently headless. BTW, the PC runs on Windows XP Pro that I will transfer from the old file server to this new one.
Anyhow, I look forward to any and all recommendations to replace my old fileserver. Thanks everyone in advance.
