advantages of G400 for video capture NLE

I'm a novice in video capture and currently bought a 32mb DH G400 (not Max) and a Dazzle DVC (USB version) for making mpeg VCD. Is there any feature provided by G400 that can help me in the VCD making process (ex. speed)? I'm asking this because I came across some problems and disable some of the feature like
32 bit buffering and etc.
