SMTP Server woes.

Indeed. You can specify a single reply-to address that can be on a different domain, but I have 8 accounts so that won't suffice.

I can now send email with multiple reply-to's but if i send one to my father, because he uses the same domain, the SMTP server wont send it as it thinks it is a local address.

Can you just enable pop..etc in gmail?
once enabled I use

smtp.gmail.com
port 587
with use "use user name and password" and TLS enabled

for out going mail in thunderbird

He wants to do forwarding, though. He wants it to come from HIS domain, not from GMAIL.

GMail won't let him fiddle headers.

Sasq handles my domain and mail, I just need a SMTP server since my ISP will no longer forward mail. I am after a simple service that will send mail, nothing more.

What I have works, but I have other people using the domain for email. The mail server thinks that all @domain are local and refuses to send globally

I'd look into more robust mailserver:

Exchange: SBS is cheap, especially with lowend OEM server
One of Linux mailserver combos, here you can have antivirus, antispam, filtering, greylisting etc... Look at how-to forge: Here's Debian example. I highly recommend Debian for servers due to good package availability, while I love OpenSuse on desktop

If you really want simple Windows mail server, look into Argosoft mail server. It's free, stores mail as .eml files in folders, works fairly well for being free, administration is easy, logs are helpful.

My ISP has changed their SMTP and POP servers to googlemail
While I am sure this will be a beneficial move for the majority of their users, I only use their SMTP server and modify the reply-to field so that I can retrieve it from another domain (@bushe). You can't do this anymore

I have installed MailEnable, a free smtp server. It works fine for all non-local domain mail. If I try and send an email to anyone@bushe then it either dumps the message in their mail box, if they are local, or bounces it if they are not. I need to somehow force global sending of apparently local mail. Can I do this?


I've posted this on the mailenable forums, but their forum isn't configured with their mail server!!!
