Alright i know this isn't the place to be talking about Savage graphics cards. Don't be mad though, it's not for me but for a computer i am building for someone. It's a budget PC that's why i have fitted a savage rather than a G400. Anyway My problem:
System
PcChips 726mrt slot1/s370 motherboard with built in sound and modem. Savage 4 graphics card 397sp chipset 32mb ram. 64mb pc100. P3 450 cpu.
I have used these mobo's before and found that if they work they work if they don't they don't.ie when they break they break totally.
The problem is the same as many of the people who own G400s have experianced. The system just locks up when windows has loaded. When graphics performance is at max in the advanced display properties then it locks quickly. In none mode it doesn't lock at all. I thought about trying the old Agpx1 trick that works on the g400 but i don't know which settings to change on this board. I have installed the latest Ali agp drivers that i could find (1.65) and the latest drivers for the savage4 which appear to be march 99 (and we complain about matrox!!). Any help would be appreciated, especially if someone knows of anywhere there are more recent drivers (i do have the latest bios for the graphics board aswell) or if there is a little trick that will make it work then please tell me. I don't care if it only does 1xagp after the fix as long as it don't crash all the bloody time.
