It has some of the 2d functions of WRAM

It can do some 3d calculations whereas DDR can not
Obviously this can be expensive but it is only necessary for the frame buffer say 16-24 MB. The other 64-96 MB for textures can be regular SDRAM. This should balance out the cost.
