G550, Win2K, and ViewSonic issue ...

I have a G550 and I'm having a couple issues with Windows 2000. I'm only using an analog CRT, so I have it plugged into the VGA port. However, when I boot after installing the drivers, PowerDesk claims that I have another monitor hooked to my card and wants me to set it up. Is this normal or is there a problem? How can I make sure that the G550 is using the VGA port as the primary display? Secondly, I hooked a ViewSonic GS790 (19") to the G550, and I can't seem to get it past 85Hz at any resolution, despite the ViewSonic supporting much higher. I've installed the monitor's drivers and checked the drivers on the site with no luck. I know I can force it higher with PowerDesk, but I wonder why it won't just let me go higher by default. Thanks!
