System - K7Athlon 650; MIS 6167; G400 Dual Head (Vanilla); MX300 Sound Board; Microsoft Digital 80 Speakers; Microsoft USP Intellipoint Explorer Mouse; 18 gig Hard Drive Quantum Fireball+;
I consistently have two G400 Dual Head game issues
1) The card will lock when using the turbo G.L. drivers for Half Life and Quake 3. Lock description - Stuttering sound,
locked on a full screen shot, cant get the puter to respond, have to shut
down. Lock occurs on line with Quake 3 most often. It typcially happens
when I begin a game after I have been playing other games or surfing the
net. Now, here is what seems to clear it up every time. If I completely
shut the system down and restart, then go into an on line session of Quake
3, it is almost always rock solid. Also, re-booting doesn't clear up the
lock, I have to completely shut down, restart then go as direct as possible
into a Quake 3 or Half Life session. Thought the pattern might hold some
clues. Would like to not have to shut down and restart each time I would
like to play.
2) I get a different lock when I play Falcon 4 and Flanker 2.0 - Both are
running under direct 3d, I belive. The lock on these sessions involves the
game freezing and the screen going into video corrupt i.e. the graphics have
many lines running through them and it continues to write new lines, kind of
like an overclock freeze of a graphics card. (By the way, I am not overclocking the G400 or my CPU at all, it is way too sensitive to even try). This lock is relatively infrequent, once or twice during a hard core two hour session, but still very anoying.
Any help would be appreciated.
