Dear gurus and fellow gamers,
I have 2 DVD-ROM games (tender loving care and tex murphy overseer) which absolutely refuse to run on my system. I use a Sony 220E (6X) drive, a G400Max, and the Matrox DVD player. I was under the impression that Matrox would install all the DirectX-capable dvd software codecs but apparently these 2 rather dated games (circa 1998) insist upon the existence of hardware decoder cards. Is there a way to playback MPEG2 movies w/o the hardware decoder? I have been successful with playback of DVD movies but not the movies in these games. Why?
I have tried other software players (powerdvd, cinemaster) but to no avail.
Please advise if you can and thanks!
Jim
