Q3A + G200 + win2000 = weird horizontal lines

I have win2000 build 2183, the latest 5.00 beta matrox drivers for my g200 and the final build of the demo (havent tried the full retail yet). i can run the game fine, and see the main menu screen fine too, but when i click on any of the options, the screen overlay seems to get all screwed up with horizontal lines. you can sort of see the proper menu in the lines as they flash, and the audio is fine. it's really weird, and it's really buggin' me! can anyone please help with this?

system info:
G200, PII 400, 128MB, 4.3GB + 2+5GB HDs, 32x CD, SBLIVE, abit BH6, 2 x PCI 10BaseT nic
