Gravis joystick with bus mastering anyone?

Can anyone give me a clue how I can get my Gravis Blackhawk Digital joystick and G400 bus mastering to work together? Most D3D games (Test Drive 5, Collin McRea Rally, WWII Fighters, Tomb Raider III) lock up solid if I have both enabled. No lockup if bus mastering or joystick is disabled. I have no shared IRQs.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
