  • How to bench FAKK 2

    1. Delete config.cfg in fakk directory.
    2. Start Fakk2.
    3. Quit Fakk2.
    4. Add the following line in the config.cfg file in the fakk directory under the CVARS section:

    seta ui_console "1"

    5. Make config.cfg Read Only.
    6. Now on your desktop create a folder called FAKK2 Bench and inside
the folder make 2 more folders. 32bit and 16bit.
    7. Inside the folders create 8 shortcuts to the Fakk2 executable.
(Just create one shortcut and then make copies).
    8. Name each shortcut: 1152X864,1024X768,960X720,800X600,640X480,
    512X384,400X300,320X240.
    9. Do a properties on the shortcut and place the following line into
the Target box after the " after the .exe:

    +seta r_mode 6 +seta r_colorbits 16 +seta r_colortextures 16 +seta r_swapinterval 0 +vid_restart +seta s_initsound 0 +snd_restart +timedemo 1 +demo demo1

    10. Go to the 16bit folder and paste those lines into each shortcut.
    11. You also must change the r_mode to reflect the resolution. For
    instance

    R_mode 0=320X240
    R_mode 1=400X300
    R_mode 2=512X384
    R_mode 3=640X480
    R_mode 4=800X600
    R_mode 5=960X720
    R_mode 6=1024X768
    R_mode 7=1152X864

    12. Now do the same thing in the 32bit folder except change the
16's to 32's to change it to 32bit instead of 16bit.
    17. Once you are done you can benchmark FAKK2! But your always gonna
have to press the ESC key when you enter the game so that you can
see the demo. When you are done press the ~ key to see your FPS.

    Looping Demo

Make a file call loop.cfg in the fakk subdirectory and place the following lines into it:

    timedemo 1
    set loop1 "demo demo1.dm3;wait;set nextdemo vstr loop1"
    vstr loop1

Save the file and then Start FAKK2 and in the console type
    exec loop
    C:\DOS
    C:\DOS\RUN
    \RUN\DOS\RUN
Working...
