Why are the official Seti Team Stats often incorrect?

If you have ever wondered about this (as I have), here's a nugget of info from Team Lamb Chop's frontpage dated April 8, 2001

cache team changes and updates them on
the stats on Saturdays.</font>

So that basically means that any joining and leaving members with some amount of WUs will leave the numbers with varying degrees of skewness until the forthcoming Saturday and the first Team Stats update after that, where the numbers may already be skewed again
