The first shown news is in Tacoma, Washington, 3000 miles from the sniper shootings.
Right now the FBI is searching a back yard in Tacoma for bullet casings and have cut a tree stump they think has bullets in it from someone using it as a target. They also hint they may also be looking for a cache of weapons.
News also says that they are serving search warrants connected to the sniper case across the nation searching for evidence in the sniper case. No specifics yet as to which cities, but FBI sources confirmed the story.

Also: word is that at least Maryland will call out the National Guard (US Army reserves) to protect polling stations during the Congressional elections Nov. 5th if this isn't solved by then.
