Laser beam pointed at landing jet

The crew of an Aegean Airways plane about to land at Larnaca Airport last night reported they had been interfered with by a laser beam while aproaching the runaway.
The plane crew told the control tower that their cabin had been illuminated by laser.
A similar incident had been reported earlier by the crew of another plane approaching the airport.
Police patrols were sent to several villages in an area west of Larnaca airport, over which planes fly at low altitute.
The Larnaca CID police department has issued an appeal to people using laser not to interfere with planes approaching the airport.
A spokemans said such interference may lead to an air tragedy.
