    OK was born 172 years ago.

    It was coined in the Boston Morning Post on March 23, 1839; the editor was engaging in the current fad - creating abbreviations. He wrote in a story "o.k. - all correct." At the time the term "oll correct" was slang for "all correct."

    It caught on.
