And now he's dead they'll suddenly stop hijacking planes ? They'll stop all their threats ?
Calling them 'loony towel heads' will make them feel better ?

Alive, he wasn't a Martyr. Dead, its like throwing petrol onto a fire.

Depends on the methodology used. Traditional methods took days to weeks, but new techs like RapID use DNA microarrays (chips) to do the analysis at CSI speeds. ZyGEM, the company that came up with RapID, is partnered with Lockheed Martin, so DoD has a direct pipeline if they needed one. Another outfit using similar tech is NetBio and their Rapid DNA rig can be used in the field by non-technical Personnel.

In either case they could get a blood sample from one of bin Laden's female relatives (IIRC one was in Boston) and preprogram it with their mitochondrial DNA (easier to analyze - smaller), which is passed on by the mother. If it matched it had to be him or one of his 4 siblings born by his mother, and they weren't 6' 6" tall. They likely also used ear photographs, which are as distinctive as fingerprints.

How long does it take to get a DNA match?

    Politico....

    >
The assault force of Navy SEALs snatched a trove of computer drives and disks during their weekend raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound, yielding what a U.S. official called “the mother lode of intelligence.”

The special operations forces grabbed personal computers, thumb drives and electronic equipment during the lightning raid that killed bin Laden, officials told POLITICO.

“They cleaned it out,” one official said. “Can you imagine what’s on Osama bin Laden’s hard drive?”

U.S. officials are about to find out. The material is being examined at a secret location in Afghanistan.

Exactly. This doesn't change a thing. It doesn't bring back anyone who has died, it doesn't end the fighting, it doesn't even inspire the smallest amount of hope.

Still, good riddance. Maybe those who helped train him will rest easier now.

More likely there will be a dog fight over who's on top.

It isn't as simple as a new #1 emerging. It is more akin to killing the Godfather.

There was going to be a reply whether Osama was killed or not.

Although I am glad Osama is dead, I actually feel sad more than anything. Why? Because it doesn't solve anything or change anything. Another life lost for senseless violent acts that will continue for eternity.

Also, somebody in the compound used a women as a human shield and she was killed because of it. And there are the 4 children of Osama who have to grapple with the reality of their father's death and learn what kind of man he really was as they grow up.

I see no reasons for celebration. All I see is that we must try harder to find better solutions, if they exist???
