I recently bought a Chinese p*r*te Blackberry look-alike phone for €39, postage included. It is bloody marvellous but I have a couple of problems. I set up my modem/router for WiFi using a WPA2-WPA-PSK encryption key, to communicate with it. The modem is hard connected to this desktop computer, so I don't need WiFi for that.
I can use the phone to browse the Internet using either the inbuilt simple browser or Opera, via my WiFi, no problem, so the communication seems to be set up OK.
The first problem is with e-mail. I can send e-mail via my local ISP OK, no problem. I can receive e-mails, also from my local ISP, and they show Date. time, To, Cc, Bcc and subject but neither the attachments (small graphics) nor the text (plain text) are displayed. This is not a memory problem as I have 2 GB free. Has anyone any idea why this might be, please?
On my desktop, I have the e-mail set up so that it all goes to a catch-all address on one of my own domains on a US host and I download it directly via Thunderbird. All outgoing messages go via my local ADSL ISP. When I try to do the same with the phone, it spends some time (2-3 minutes) "loading" at the end of which it displays 0/1 Mail(s) Network error on both Sent and Received. AFAIK, I believe the set up is the same as for the desktop, including the ports. Please, any clues?
