An example of the small satellite revolution is the Planet Labs Dove Earth imaging satellite. Part of the first flock was launched on a Cygnus ISS flight and 14 more will go up on Falcon 9 Dragon CRS-6, now scheduled for April 13.

FLOCK 1
The worlds largest constellation of Earth-imaging satellites, comprised of 28 Dove satellites. Deployment of Flock 1 marked a number of first-time achievements in the space industry, and provides a whole-Earth dataset that is unmatched in its breadth and freshness.
>
OPTICS AND SENSORS
The main camera captures images of the Earth at 3 to 5 meter resolution. Each Dove continuously photographs the Earths surface as it moves in orbit, completing an orbit roughly every 90 minutes (about 16 complete orbits in each 24-hour period). The Doves carry a star camera, which allows us to position the image on Earth.
