  • Guardians of the Galaxy : The Perfect Trilogy....Yay or Nay.

    So.
its been awhile since I've been back.

Is Guardians of the Galaxy the Perfect trilogy ?

Just watched Vol 3, and I think it is.

I don't remember a trilogy having been this good, this perfect.

Anyone got an opinion on this ?

Got a better trilogy in mind that I may have missed ?

    Bring it on

LOTR doesn't count, as it was a great book trilogy anyways

Ghostbusters Afterlife together with the two original Ghostbusters are not a bad trilogy (even Sony did not put the Ghostbusters remake in the trilogy-box, so that one should never be mentioned ).

The Babysitter (2017 and 2020) is surprisingly entertaining... Not a trilogy though... and not putting it in the list of best ones, but better than we anticipated for what is in essence a horror-slasher.

Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. Loved it.

I havent watched Dark Knight, Ghostbusters and not the third Guardians movie so not.much to add. There have been quite a number of bad ones. Matrix (one of the reasons to make a Quadrology(?), star wars, all those trilogies. Fantastic beasts etc, horrible.

There is of course a famous five part trilogy but that's books.

Unlikely that someone missed them: Back to the future... Indiana Jones...
            But what about:
            The Hannibal Lecter trilogy
Unbreakable, Split, Glass (I haven't seen Glass yet - the first two are good though)

Yeah, forgot about some of those. Didn't see Hannibal, Unbreakable etc.

And then, of course, there is the brilliant Cornetto Trilogy.

The 80s Evil Dead Trilogy is a must. Bruce Campbell was a blast.

If you haven't watched and like yakuza movies: Outrage by Takeshi Kitano

And of course the best trilogy: The Godfather

                    edit: Umfriend mentioned it....

The Cornetto Trilogy, aka Blood and Ice cream trilogy? They form an anthology and don't comprise a single story:

Shaun of the dead + Hot fuzz + The world's end

I only saw the last two, but they were hilarious.

IMHO, you've seen the best two then.

Dark Night trilogy was good, but I found the 1st and 3rd not as good as the 2nd, awesome movie...
Outrage is very very good, Takeshi Kitano at his finest Yakuza mode.
VJ, seriously, you must see Shaun of the Dead, its what started the whole rollercoaster that gave us Hot Fuzz and all the rest
I preferred Shaun to Worlds End, for sure.
Evil Dead Trilogy I will give in to, it was pretty damn awesome, Boomstick included
The last Evil Dead Rise was pretty good, but I see that as a new beginning
Hannibal lecter trilogy is four films I think, and apart from The OG Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon, i think the others are a bit Meh...
Ghostbusters 2 wasn't great, but I liked the new one, Afterlife, so they may be back again.
Back to the Future and Indy, yes, both great Trilogies. Indy only has 3 films. The two last ones don't count, even though Crystal Skull has gone up in my esteem, just due to how bad the last one was.
Haven't got round to watching Split or Glass yet, rainy day
Dirty Harry was great, but its like 5 movies, iirc

I just thought (drunkenly) that Guardians had laughs, tears, and a good cast all throughout the trilogy.
It didn't get too uppity, and was just a great trilogy to watch. Lots of action, lots of interesting bits.
                        Never a dull moment.

As a complete thread hijack, what films are you looking forward to this year ?

I know i'm looking forward to some, but have a brain fart at the moment and can't even think of one...My brain just keeps on reminding me that GTA6 will be out maybe in 2025...lol

I just finished watching Upgrade (it is disappearing from Netflix here). It was a surprisingly good movie, the plot actually made sense, acting was ok... It is considered a B-movie, but IMO punches well above that.
