Boeing will use them on 737 wheels so they can taxi and move in/out of their gates without conventional fuel consumption (no tugs) and rumors in these parts are strong (and not just from the Motor Trend article) that an automaker (GM is the rumor) will be using a mesh connected electric motor in EV's.
Big advantage appears to be both high torque and high rev operation without the usual inverter problems.
