FreeBSD and Environment Var

I am trying to get Tomcat running on FreeBSD 5, and it req you to set an Environment variable of JAVA_HOME to the path java was installed to. How do you do this? the java docs list % which java
But that only gives me errors.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It was the setenv command... GO figure...
