Optimal *input* settings?

Are there any numbers given by Matrox for optimal quality on video input on the Marvel G200? More specifically, on a PAL system. Even more specifically, in Sweden, Telia KabelTV.

Or is the Marvel really that bad at dealing with high-intensity images and contrast? Most of the detail simply disappears if the image is too dark or too bright =(

Has anyone here managed to f.x. capture something and then output it to video with almost, if not exactly, the same image properties (color, brightness, contrast...)?

The setup that has worked for me is:
saturation up to 90 or above
contrast 53-56
brightness 58-61
leave the hue at default
