marvel skipping frame

I also already thought about it. Thanks anyway. do you know or does any body knows how to maximize or to improve disk cache? my HD spec. cache size is 2mb is it optimal for marvel? if not how can I solve this?

It's me again. Yesterday I found out that the problem is not about capturing but playing back the captured avi files. After I capture the avi files then play them back. The first time time the avi files look like skipping frame, secon one better and the third one the avi files is just fine just like I can play them smoothly. It also applies to adobe premiere after I import the movie I have to play them 3 times to be able to see it fine.

I am a little bit satisfied now cause I now that my marvel, motherboard are just fine I think my hard disk has hard time to play the avi files back but not to capture.

Does any of guys up there knows how to improve this? Should I buy a new hard disk for my system and use my existing hard disk to capture and play back the avi files. Because it is quite big 27 GB and 8~9 mb/second. I can buy a new hardisk for my system about 8,4 GB. Do you think this will improve the playback problem?

It works now for me!!! (Read my topic "I solved my dropped frames problem", also posted to the newsgroup alt.comp...matrox).


Windows 98 really sucks - the Marvel works
"marvelously" under Windows 95 !!!!!

Windows 98 just can't handle this high data rate for some obscure reason. My recommendation: use a separate hard disk with win95 just for video editing!

One other thing to try...

If your BIOS has boot sector virus protection enabled, disable it. You should see a reduction in dropped frames.
