How do I disable vsync on my Marvel G400?

in the matrox display properties-monitor settings- take the check out of "use simplified monitor controls" and click on "adjust the current display mode" you should now see the vsync setting.

I just tried this and my screen cut in and out. It then looked a squished with monitor wizard screen. however, there was no vsync. Is this normal?
