Matrox Marvel BOB required?

Hello. I would like to know if have some problem in using the Matrox Marvel G400 without the Blue Box (I want to connect the bob only when I working with video capture).

Normal display functions shouldn't be affected at all.

I'd suggest powering down before connecting the BOB however; as I understand it, there's a decent amount of juice going through that nice thick cable, and I think hot-plugging may cause damage.
