clarifying 4X4 pixel problem

well, to restate my problem with the xingtech encoder error, this is what it actually says when I try to encode my slide show I've made in premiere using the pictures I've scanned with my microtek scanmaker X6EL (max opt. 600X1200).

The error says. "Unsupported file width! The input file must be a multiple of 4 pixels."

I'm guessing if my scanner scans at 600X600, then it won't have that problem. How can I change the resolution dimensions of the scan? thanks in advance.
