What size capture should I use???

I'd like to grab some video to put in VCD format and would like to know which screen resolution I should capture for the best results.

Should I capture at 704x480 or is 352x480 sufficient for VCD format??

when you're talking VCD, you're talking MPEG-1. So, capture using 352x480 and convert this to MPEG (depending on the VCD-software you're using, this MPEG-conversion could also be executed when creating the VCD).

It's no use capturing in 704x480 mode, since you will have to downscale the image as it is not a valid MPEG-1 size. Furthermore, your captured AVI-file will be much bigger (more lost frames if your HD can't keep up) and you'll reach the 2 GB-limit a lot sooner.

Of course, things would change if you were talking MPEG-2 (DVD) ....
