What language was it written in? I am a big fan of Borland's compilers but the latest releases are getting quite resource-hungry and the executables are more and more bloated.

YUY2 is quite unstable on my G200, I'm still trying to find the cause. I don't know if you're right about the marketing issue.

One thing puzzles me though; if YUY2 is officially endorsed on the G400, it should be possible to capture in (software) MPEG-2 as well because that's just what the G450 does, a software YUY2 -> mpeg conversion. They probably just disabled it in Videotools for the reasons you mentioned! Now wouldn't that be a great hack?

I'll 2nd that one... Make the G450's vid tools work on the G400 Marvel ;-) Shame the G450's vid tools can't be downloaded from Matrox's site - probably for that reason?

Can someone tell me where the Matrox VidCap dialog can be found? I looked everywhere.

Start a 3rd party capture program such as Avi_IO.

Then select Capture-Video settings- format ....

Yes, I did it in VirtualDub. I see nothing there, just the usual RGB 8, RGB 16, RGB 24 and MJPEG although I enabled YUY2.

Hmmm. What version of videotools do you have, and what exactly is the title caption of the setup dialog?
