MSP 6, MPEG 2, Marvel G400.... now what codec?

I create mpeg2 video using media studio pro 6. It looks and plays great on my machine, but when I burn the video to CD and try and play it on another machine using the windows media player it can't. It tries to find a codec but can not.

What do I need to do so others can see my video work? Hopefully someone can't point me towards a download URL for a codec that works with media player 6.4

I don't think MPEG-2 video is standard across all machines. Try something more common, like MPEG-1. That should play on just about every computer out there.

People say that a hardware MPEG2 card helps.
I didn't tested it, but I will do it soon.
Any other comments ?

I have, on illegal way, got the ligos mpeg-2 player filters, but I do not know how to install them. There are three .ax files. Should I register them somewhere, or what should I do.

If you want, I could mail them to you.

Ligos has a DirectShow filter that allows you to play MPEG2 files via the Windows Media player. More info can be found on http://www.ligos.com/products/lsx_player_overview.shtm

Also most SoftDvd players can play MPEG2 files, provided that they have a file-mode. I use PowerDvd and it works fine.

Two things here:

1. There are some MPEG-2 changes in the MSPro 6 DV patch.

2. When this patch is applied you should also add this to the ulead32.ini file:

Advance=1
SeqHeader=1

Advance=1 turns on the advanced MPEG options page. SeqHeader=1 adds some data to the MPEG-2 files that make them DVD compatable.
