Video capture produces black video

every time i try to capture video using pc-vcr in win2k, it captures the first few seconds (up to 50 sec.) then the audio continues capturing video, but the duration of the file has no picture, just black screen for video. this happens no matter what display resolution i'm at, or the res. i capture at. Has anyone else experienced, and possibly found a way to fix this problem?

my system is a p3 500, g400 dh + rrg, 128mb ram, sb live, dlink 528 nic.
