Whats a good codec for Pic to Divx

I converting old vhs on now working RRS. I'm going Pic video to Divx. Is it best to go from Pic to ? then Divx. I went straight from Morgan to Divx in the past and it always looked crap. Any suggestions?

Try encoding a short stream to a lossless format as an intermediate step to see if it minimizes the conversion losses. HuffYUV would work and be smaller than YUV or RGB.

      Thanx Doc.
Only problem is the files HuffYUV makes are quite large. But I guess this is what I have to deal with if I want a good conversion.

Don't expect wonders either way. Encoding from a DCT format to a temporal format like DivX is always fraught with lossiness.
