Camera handling, zoom, motor noise dampening?

Anybody got a good (cheap) solution for isolating camera mounted shotgun mics from camera and handling noise?

Well this sounds cheesey but it worked for me very well.

Take a soup can, clean it out and remove the label.

Punch two rings with four holes in each ring equidistant around the can. Thread a rubber band through each hole with a little loop coming through each hole. The rubber bands should be a little too short to reach from one side of the can to the other- they should be under tension.

Hold the bands in place with a nail or pen or whatever. This creates to Xs that will hold the mic in place in the center of the can. Cut or punch a hole in the bottom of the can and thread the mix cable through there.

I used the mounting bracket that came with the mic (Azden, unbalanced) and attached it to the can with screws.

This works very well with no noise transfered to the mic.
