    VCR to PC recording

Guess it works best with Virtual Dub, my question is if there are any filters/mods etc for vdub that improve quality. And what settings should I use?

Quality is a pretty vague term with several aspects; noise, color accuracy, color saturation, contrast, jitter etc. etc.

So...the uppance is; what's wrong with your capture that you want to "fix"?

Don’t forget the principles of capture:
      Shit in = shit out…
Seriously, you can’t capture better than your source is.
I am using AVI_IO, the best capture program for me.

Nothing wrong yet, I just remember reading an article somewhere that recommended an anti-noise filter for v-dub. Do you mean that i only need it when my video is too full of noise?
