Maxtor just bought Quantums HDD unit for $2.3 billion in stock creating the worlds largest HD maker. They also acquired Matsushita-Kotobuki Electronics Industries, one of Quantums partners.

Wow. I kinda thought Quantum was falling behind the times with no UDMA100 drives on the market. Watch out IBM!
