OT: Sony VCP-S55 VCD player conundrum

I have lost the remote control for my Sony VCP-S55 VCD player. Yes, I know it’s rather archaic, but I love old Sony stuff. Anyway, the big problem is that the VCD player defaults to PAL output mode and the remote is required to change the output to NTSC. Does anyone have a brilliant suggestion as to how I can activate the NTSC output mode on this Sony VCD player without its remote?

If you have other remotes you could check the manual for the remote for a sony code or check the net http://www.xdiv.com/remotes/
then program that remote some remotes will do a search even if do not have a code. If you do not have a remote for another device you may be able to borrow one to do the programming

      Maybe in Asia...

I have about five different Sony remote controls here from various Sony camcorders and VCRs, but none of them will communicate with this Sony VCD deck. I even have a remote here for a Sony CD/CDV/LD player, but it too speaks a different language. I don't have a Sony DVD player, but I doubt the remote control for a DVD deck would have a command for toggling between PAL/NTSC output anyway.

The problem is that this deck is so rare, at least in this part of the world. Do a search in Google for VCP-S55 and see what I mean! Of course I don't know for sure, but I'd be real surprised if a universal programmable remote control would have a command for toggling this deck between PAL and NTSC output either.

Find someone else who has one and use a learning remote to get what you need.
