strange problem viewing MPEG

Hello all,

since yesterday I have a weird little square running on my screen during playing of MPEG files. It looks like a trial protection of some kind if program but I have no idea which one, I see it while using windows media player.

Any suggestions?

Did you install any software just before ?

Well ... nothing "just before", but a few codec during the last couple of weeks. I already tried to uninstall almost everything. No change.

I have been thinking that you perhaps picked up a virus but perhaps it's not the case.

Do you get the same thing with all mpeg files ?

Yes, it seams to be something in the player probable, I have it in WMP, BSPlayer and ATI MMC which probably use the same engine but I don't have it in WinDVD (while playing the same file)

Which version of windows media player are you using ?

Perhaps if you re-install it, it will fix the problem.
