    Adobe Premiere

I am new to desktop video. I downloaded a trial for Adobe Premiere and it looks quite good, but it doesn't do everything I would like it to do. Is there a better program? I would like to be able to apply effects to only the parts that are not transparent. For example, I Embossed an overlay clip and it lost it's transparent color because it all turned gray. I would like to be able to change the background color for effects like Polar Coordinates. I would like to be able to do rotoscoping. Is there a program that can do all this?

      It freezes.

I downloaded the MediaStudia trial and in the video editor, during initialization, it stopped responding at 85%, creating audio filters. The audio editor had to close because of an error. How can I fix this?

I shut down all the other programs and that stopped it from freezing, but I still get the error in the audio editor.

Does this let me apply effects to only non-transparent parts?
