TV card

One of the things I miss having replaced my G400 TV with the RT x10 is the TV function. I guess I will have to get a TV card.

Any suggestions for preference?

I use one of those el-cheapo bt848 cards, a Pinnacle I think.
Has driver support in Linux, works like a champ with DScaler in WinXP.
Capturing is OK if you've got a semi-good computer.
It skipped a couple of frames on my P133

Why not keep your G-550 and use a Canopus ADVC-100 which is a 2-way A<>D bridge. That way, you can have an extra TV screen AND 2 monitors for editing and take your TV input from the TV Scart socket? I do exactly that.

composite video (CVBS), RCA jack
S-video (Y/C), mini-DIN
inputs

So you can plug a VCR (video cassette recorder) into the s-video input (or composite) for watching TV....if you have a spare VCR that is

However I am no expert on the X10(I don't have clue) but I guess it should work....

Cheap tv cards can have quite good reception, but usually a good VCR will still be better...

Yep, it has all that you say. However, my Marvel G400 has video tools that allow for setup of TV broadcast on screen. The G550 does not. At least not that I can see. The only way I can get TV on the PC is to have Premiere running with the capture screen open and operate my VCR through that.
