Why doesn't Premiere pro run on 2k

I was browsing the Adobe site and I noticed XP as requirement.

Why is that?

I imagine HT could be the reason, but that's only in case of P4, early P4s, PIII and AthlonXP don't have it.

HT doesn't run as well in 2K as it does in XP.

That said if written for XP video software can run better on it, which is why a lot of newer software will be written this way.

I think it would work on 2k, it's just not supported. Of course Adobe may have a flag to only install the software if XP is present too.

I think the main reason they did this is for stability. They built the program from the ground up and just supporting one OS would/ should make the program more stable.

Also note they recommend only Intel processors and at least 1GB Ram. However, Amd processors do work with it.

I wonder if anyone has tried to use W2k with it?

It won't install on Win2k.

And while 2k sees P4HT as 2 CPUs, it doesn't properly discern from logical and virtual CPUs.

Windows XP is far more advanced in terms of multimedia support as well as HT which is why manufacturers are supporting it exclusively.
