So MS are leaving a quarter of its clients totally in the lurch! Typical
I still have W98 on 2/4 computers, one dual boot and the other a laptop which refuses upgrading. In fact, this is being typed on a W98 'puter, because I have some legacy software and hardware which will not work on W2k or XP.
However, it is unlikely that I'll need service from MS.Brian (the devil incarnate)

I wonder what people can do if Ford for example could say it stops support its cars older then 6 years.
I'm sure the selling could decrease strongly.
But in the car business tere are a free market.

Seems there's a delay in death row : it would still be supported till 2006 for as far as this article is to be trusted, or MS changes its mind again.

Yeah, it seems MSFT changed their minds due to protest of users and because Win98 has a very large installed base, MSFT feared that users would switch to Linux.
Using the mentality that the longer someone uses their software the less likely a user would be to switch to a competing one.
Yeah right......
