    New G** Series drivers

Although not yet mentioned on the MGA driver page, Matrox released new driver packages for the G** Series.

    ftp://ftp.matrox.com/pub/mga/archive...xp_592_006.exe

    ftp://ftp.matrox.com/pub/mga/archive...kxp_592_tv.exe

They´re probably even WHQL Certified. I just wonder what the difference between the two is...

After posting I found that it was in fact mentioned under the Certified Drivers section, just not yet on the latest driver section.
The TV-version is for any G** Series Card that features TV-out.
WARNING: the fact is that I haven´t yet managed to get DVD-Max working with this package! The properties tab states : "enabled, but not currently active" Don´t know what´s the cause, but the hardware overlay fails to trigger DVD-Max.

Yep, I've to confirm that. No DVD-max anymore - even switching back to the old drivers didn't help.

            Cheers, Hannes

              Hannes,

Did you use the Matrox Uninstall Utility before reinstalling the old drivers? I also reinstalled the older drivers and everything is OK again on my system.

Ha! Interesting that you write everything is ok again. I did about 1h of reinstalling & fiddling around with the drivers, but now everything works well again.

Even better - I own the G400 about 2 weeks now, but didn't take the time to play with all these settings...

Do you know why I'm able to clone my 1280x1024x32bit@60Hz desktop, but get an error that wouldn't be possible with the same res but at 72Hz?

I changed the colour depth to 24bit, activated cloning and as soon clone was active, my monitor was set to 32bits again? Without an error.

                Have a nice day, Hannes

Not sure, but it sounds like you´re asking just a bit too much from the card. You could try lowering to 16 bit (high color) and see if you can get it to work then.
To be honest, I´ve got the card for something like 5 years or so and I never seriously used any DualHead features other than DVD-Max.

                  have a nice day

                    Thanks for your reply!

No, I think I was too confuse. Everthing works like a charm! I was just a bit irritated, that I get an error with 32bit colour depth, I lower it, activate cloning and I'm at 32bits again but with cloning active!

                    Cheers, Hannes

                        new drivers and Marvel G400-TV

I'm a little confused, are the new drivers @ the top of this thread appropriate for the Marvel G400TV ? If yes do they enable VCR and hardware MJPEG under Win XP?
                        Thanks

                          No!
                          PowerDesk contains display drivers
                          and enables advanced display features...

                          VideoTools contains capture drivers
                          and enables capturing and tv-tuner.
VideoTools doesn't work without PowerDesk installed.

Thank you yet again Adis. I have been using your drivers in XP for a year now. A question : I have always gotten this message in event viewer under system

The Matrox WDM capture/crossbar driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

                            Any idea why? Thanks
