Source Problem (with example links)

I have a terrible problem with ghosting on my UPN cable station. Both these files were captured 704x480 HuffYuv, and rendered to Mpeg4V2 with 2Dcleaner, deinterlace, levels adjustment, and resize. The second file, has had the antiflicker filter applied. What I'm having problems with is a rapid fluctuation of brightness levels from the ghosting. Antiflicker, improves things a lot, but you have to render twice to use it. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how to fix this? I may just have to break down and get digital cable.

Could be....

1. low signal strength from the source (not that uncommon with consumer gear)

2. some RF interference (monitor, preview monitor etc).

3. a poor quality cable or connection causing both 1 & 2 (high resistance + poor shielding).

4. ground loop.

Nice bit of encoding. Looked good as a SVCD.

Looks like a cable mismatch, may be caused by faulty plug.... Though you will have to post the remaining 59:30 of the program to be sure :-) (I haven't seen this episode)

One question. Do you archive these to CDROM in Divx / MPEG4 format for PC replay or convert to MPEG2 for SVCD playback on stand alone DVD player.?? You should just about have enought room for the entire program less comercials especialy with these 900 Meg CDROMs coming on stream... If your recorder will record to them.

I archive to Mpeg4v2 and watch on the pc. My Marvel is my bedroom tv, and I don't have a standalone dvd player. I have a 27" mitsubishi in the living room, but it died a few days ago. No big loss, as I didn't use it much. One of these days I'll give svcd a shot, just to learn it. Tsunami has given me some good results on test runs. Oh well, it's as much a hoby as anything else.
