2x video player?

There have been many case where I thought it would be nice to have a video player that could play back standard formats in greater-than-1X speed.

Just to glance over things, test video captures, etc.

Are there any that exsist?

Windows Media Player can do it for certain formats.

VLC player can do it too (I think with more formats): http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

If I recall correctly, VLC allows speeds of 1/4 x, 1/2 x, 1 x, 2x, and 4x. Another nice feature is that you can start playback of a file even as it is being recorded. (Most players give up in this case.) I find this very useful to verify the contents of a TV program being recorded in background on my PC.

Also Ulead DVD Player, which also makes a good compromise display with interlaced sources. I use it almost exclusively, in pref to WMP now.

Media Player Classic can do it. It is free player, it is fast, it read all popular video/audio formats, swf, DVD, Audio CD and it can capture video!

Hi Adis,

What does Media Player Classic need to enable capturing?
Before your post I didn´t even know that MPC could do that, so I checked it but the option is greyed out here.
I probably won´t be using it, but I´m just curious....

LOL, MPC is my primary media player...how did I fail to notice that it does that?

To top it off, it does the sound along with it.
