    use dv as video output

    Interesting tool:
Video2dv allows playback of avi, mpg, ... through a firewire port...

I have tried it (with a regular avi) with my ADVC110, and it worked (great image quality!).

Anyone know of other such tools (i.e. for DVD playback)?

The Ulead MSP7 NLE has DV output, including during playback, previewing, editing and scrubbing the files you are working on. I've used this for 2 years as my standard TV viewing technique, via an ADVC-100, before encoding/burning the DVD.

Yes, a lot of softwares have this. But the tool I posted (video2DV) sends any avi/mpg to the output, effectively allowing the use of a firewire to analog video converter as a tv-input.
