    Problems With Ulead Video Capture

    HI All,

I'm trying to capture using the Ulead video capture module in Medias Studio 7 but I keep geting an error message "Failed to build a preview graph" when I start the capture.
I'm using DirectShow capture drivers. Would appreciate any help.

What kind of capture? IEEE-1394, analog, USB device???

That said most preview graph problems have been related to a faulty DirectX install and/or display driver issue or HD cameras.

    What OS, Dx version etc.?

Sorry Doc. I have been too vague. It has been a Composite video input. Video/Audio from Satellite receiver. I have tried MPEG-2 and AVI both the same problem.

      WinXP + SP1, DX9c, All-In-Wonder 9800 SE (Radeon 9800)

Have you recently updated the capture/display drivers or DirectX? Sometimes you can also lose functionality if Windows auto-update installs something and messes up their connection to DirectX, which is why I leave that feature off.

I had a similar issue with MSP and it went away after I connected the DV Cam which it reconised instantly. Thereafter it did composite as well.

It appears that there's an incomptibility problem, since other capturing software appears to work well.

I just have to wait untill I discover somthing.

Thanks to all for your help.

If you have a firewire connection and can borrow a DV cam maybe it can be woken up.

I keep geting "Faild to build a preview graph" in all ulead video capture modules.
This only happens with ATI All-In-Wonder 9800se

                  Any ideas?

                    You could try this (presuming XP);

                    Go to C:\Documents and Setting\(login name)\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead MediaStudio Pro\7.0

First copy the contents of this folder to a safe place. Next DELETE the contents of this folder and reboot.

                    Now try again.

Same problem Doc. Thanks anyways. Its just frustrating not to be able to use the cap. module for composite video, however IEEE-1394 is no problem.

I'm using WinDVR for capturing and it appears to be working fine.

                      Thanks again,

No noting doing. I just can't figure it out !!. I just have to forget the capture app. in MSP.
                        Thanks anyways Doc & Co.

Problem fixed. Remember Aladin's tail..... changing the new for the old?
That did it . Used the old drivers (5 versions older) and the UMSP video capture now works like a charm in composite video, avi or mpeg-2.

                          Thanks again guys.

                            Debbie or Doc,
What driver did you end up using? Was it an old version of Directx?
